Sip with your Sweetheart
Sip Happens on the Westside Wine Trail
It is that time of year again when the chefs, bakers and sommeliers of the Westside Wine Trail team up for some decadent chocolate and wine pairings. Sunday, February 8th marks the fourth annual ‘Sip with Your Sweetheart’ event which will take place at eight different wineries along the wine trail.
It is an afternoon of chocolate indulgence and a time for taste buds to savour wine and chocolate pairings that have been carefully crafted and harmonized. It is also known to bring out the crowds, with each year the event gaining in popularity among locals and tourists alike.
Because so many happy wine sippers have been coming out for this event, the wineries are offering special early bird passes to those who wish to bypass some of the crowds. The early bird passes are new this year and are only available in limited quantities. These free passes will allow the holder to arrive at their selected starting winery an hour ahead of the crowds. “This way people can enjoy the benefits of having a tasting with a smaller group in a more relaxed and intimate setting,” explains Salina Petschulat Curtis, the Westside Wine Trail Coordinator.
The event takes place on the Sunday of the Family Day long weekend which makes for an enjoyable way to spend time with family and friends who may be visiting from out of town. The participating wineries will be treating everyone from noon to 4 pm with complimentary wine & chocolate tastings. Wine, gifts, books, art and culinary delights will be available for purchase so sippers and sweethearts can enjoy them long after their visit to the Westside Wine Trail.
Visitors are encouraged to start their self-guided tour at either end of the trail, either on Glencoe Rd or Boucherie Rd. As an added convenience, touring options are available for people through Distinctly Kelowna Tours.
