Electronic sizing and sorting of cherries has become the ‘new norm’ in larger cherry packing houses, but many of the smaller packers have shied away from investing in this technology due to the high cost.
It is hard to justify spending up to a million dollars or more on a sorting solution that gets used for 8 weeks a year.
Fruittek and its affiliates would like to introduce the Multiscan i5 Series Sorter, the first electronic 10+ exit, cherry sizer and sorter specifically designed and priced for small to medium sized cherry grower/packers.
The Multiscan i5 Series Sorters accurately sort fruit diameter, color, external defects and even softness and unlike some competitive technologies that charge separately for each sorting module, all sorting modules are included in the i5 Series Sorters. They also have a very ‘space friendly’ design that is ideal for smaller packing areas and come in both wet flume and dry belt versions.
At less than half the cost of competitive solutions, Multiscan sorters are an exciting new option for cherry packers that want the consistently sized and visually appealing packs that electronic sorting can deliver, but at an investment level that makes sense.
Multiscan has recently made a successful market entry into the U.S. Chris Phillippi of Phillippi Fruit Company, Inc. in Wenatchee, WA was looking for an affordable alternative to the high-priced electronic cherry sorters on the market, for sorting external defects and soft fruit.
