Penticton, BC (September 21, 2016 ) – Andréa Buyan, Farmer Andy, reached out for community support last month after the wind storm that destroyed her Bunny Rescue Area and now wants to thank the community for the resources to rebuild it.
Andy comments, “I want to thank everyone that has supported the farm in the past month with our fundraising initiative. The response has been absolutely amazing from our community and we are so grateful! It makes us realize how much the farm is loved and needed. The new rescue rabbit area is now underway.”
For Andréa and her family running a petting farm is a labour of love, but now that a big part of the farm has become rescuing animals she needs to turn to the community for some support to continue to operate the farm in the same way.
Weekly she gets calls from people wanting to bring animals to the farm. This is a challenge as Andy’s does not receive any outside funding. So she is seeking support and sponsorship from local businesses, and partnerships for fundraising events, to build some more pens and have proper winter housing for the animals. With these facilities she can take on more animals who need homes and also to be able to keep the farm open for a longer season for visitors.
Andy Animal Acres is a year round home for these animals, with a very short open season for income to sustain caring for them year round.
Andy has launched a Go Fund Me page. Andréa states, “We know the goal for this campaign seems a long way off but we will keep our sites set high. I want to keep this farm alive, providing a visiting farm for the public and rescuing animals. The Farm is open through September, on weekends from 10 - 2 PM, weather permitting. October hours to be announced soon.
The Annual 101 Pumpkin Event on the Halloween weekend, watch for details.
Private groups bookings can be made during the weekend and after hours birthday parties on the weekends.
The Farm is located at 1154 Three Mile Rd. in Penticton.
